The front door requires Lockpicking 60, but that is not the intended solution for this route. Instead, approach the ruined home near the hill and climb upward. From the higher ground, you can jump into the chimney and enter the house through an alternate path.

The chimney contains a fire, so move through it carefully and leave the hazard quickly. Once inside, search the table rather than relying on Hyrum’s statement that the key is on the bed. Take the key and unlock the door from within. This completes the entry portion of Locked Out and gives you access to the strange intruder.

After opening the door, speak with the unusual man inside. His dialogue is difficult to interpret, but listen for references to charcoal, a blank book, and magic. These clues create the next journal objective, Moon in the Man.

The Moonface investigation requires two basic components: charcoal and a blank tome. Charcoal can appear in barrels and crates throughout town, making routine container searches worthwhile. If you want a more reliable location, travel south from town, pass behind the mountain, and look for the charcoal burner. Charcoal is placed near the fire there.

The blank tome has several possible acquisition routes. You can complete a simple task for the local wizard, Seadorus, and receive one afterward. If that task is already complete, purchase a tome from him. There is also a tome on a crate behind his home, which provides an alternative for players who want to avoid another errand.

Once both items are ready, return to the Moonface and speak with him again. He will ask you to deal with a snail near a drainage area by the tower. The creature has taken his voice, so the objective changes from gathering materials to tracking the source of the problem.

The snail is identified as Voice of Reason. It is found outside town to the west. Leave through the western exit, move forward, and stay toward the right side. Use the two rocks and the nearby tree as landmarks, then descend into the canyon. Continue toward the river and look below the bridge-like crossing. The snail is positioned underneath it.

Defeat Voice of Reason and return to the Moonface. With his voice restored, he explains that the saint caused his appearance and that he has been hiding in the house. He then points you toward Chi’Alani, who may know more about removing the curse.

Search the destination island carefully. It contains a bed, a chest, and a valuable bow. The hermit may not be standing in the expected location, and the route does not require finding his body. The important quest object is Detta’s journal, located on a stool near the campfire.

The island includes optional exploration value beyond the quest. The chest contains a strong and expensive bow according to the route, but the journal remains the priority. Take the quest item first, then inspect the chest and surrounding objects before traveling back.
